10 years of TUD-Modelltechnik
The company TUD-Modelltechnik Dresden was founded in 2003 by Andreas and Martin Herrig as well as Franz Demmler. We can now – in 2013 – look back at a 10years history though. And it is a history of success! Our business contains the production of high-performance glider models for the FAI-glider classes. We see us as a small ‘prestige manufacturer’, who offers both: models for the sportive professional and for the ambitious free time-pilot.
The constructions come from the pen of Andreas and Martin Herrig, who have been FAI World- and European Champions already several times in the past and who have proved their excellent performance skills in a lot of different international competitions in the classes F3B, F3F and F3K all over the world. Not only a long practical experience, but also extensive theoretical background knowledge in the aerodynamic and static field find their way into their concepts. Our philosophy combines thereby outstanding aerodynamic for an uncompromising competition- action with a good handling, first-class quality of the products, proved long-life cycle and careful, evolutional perfective maintenance.
Undoubted flagship for the classes F3B and F3F is thereby the Freestyler family. Having been on the market already for years, the dominance of this model remains unbowed in the concerned classes. Cautious interferences and advancements in the fields wings- und fuselage-Layup with the help of introduction of new materials, free of play and stiff rudder linkage as well as adjusted Setups show, that these well-proven constructions have not reached their zenith of capacity and promise further potential for the future.
Also in the fast advancing class F3K our models have found their firm place already. The first model, which left our house, was the DLG ‘Aspirin’ at the end of 2003, a draft, which was part of the top segment for a long time, before it was replaced by the successful product ‘SALpeter’ in 2007. Also this model has succeeded worldwide and has got several modifications, which make it competitive until today. The current FAI- European- and World Champion titles 2012 and 2013 have been flown – beside several other competitions – with this model.
Also in the future the public will take part in the innovation power of the Herrig-brothers. Should we have the opinion that it is time to create something new, we will also do this in the future. But only then, when we are absolutely sure to offer something better. ‘Be better at any price’ is not our philosophy.
What is good, is unfortunately often rare. So we are aware of the long waiting time for one of our models. In this question we have to count on the comprehension of our customers, to accept it in the interest of the quality of our products.
